Dental specialists who help prevent, diagnose, and treat gum diseases are called Periodontists. They are also trained to perform surgery on patients with such diseases and to replace tooth loss with dental implants. In addition to assist with the long-term maintenance of dental implants and to treat peri-implantitis which is a major cause of implant complication in the longer term.

It is advisable to visit a Periodontist soon if you have the following symptoms:

• Gums that bleed when you brush your teeth
• Red, tender, and swollen gums
• Elongated teeth with receding gums
• Loose teeth
• Gums that produce pus when pressed
• Teeth with gradually changing positions
• Gums disease or bleeding around dental implants or peri-implantitis
• Bad breath (halitosis)
